WARNING: the ocean here is known for dangerous rip currents and has taken many lives. If in doubt, don't go out!
The most breathtaking hike and view of the Nā Pali coast. Be sure to book your permit and parking pass at go haena.com. They are available for purchase 90 days in advance and they do sell out quickly. You can hike 2 miles (one-way) in to the beautiful beach and river. The river is cold and refreshing to dip in after the hike. If you'd like, you can continue from there 2 more miles (one-way) to Hanakapi'ai waterfall, which is huge and spectacular. It's a challenging hike for sure, but so worth it.
Gorgeous view of Hanalei. ADA Accessible
This is our favorite beach and where Nathan proposed. Walk down the beach to the right and you'll find a fresh spring coming out of the rock wall. Keep going to the very end and there is nice snorkeling when the ocean is flat.
WARNING: Ocean here is known to have strong rip current. Please only swim in safe conditions. When in doubt, don't go out.
Also known as tunnels beach. Some of the best snorkeling on island. Make sure to go early in the morning if you want to get a parking spot. It's a small lot and super popular. Please stick to designated parking areas to avoid fees.
Amazing beautiful waterfall.
A truly stunning state park on the other side of the island. It's a long drive from Princeville, but I promise you'll be happy you made it. The canyon here is incredible, with many looksouts and hikes. Grab lunch at the Lodge, a cozy spot for a nice meal.
(We met for the very first time here on the lawn in front of the lodge!)
One of my favorite hikes there is called Awa'awapuhi (aka airplane trail).
Delicious fish tacos. My favorite is the Ono.
To-go poke bowls, sushi rolls and lunch plates during the day in the back. Full service restaurant and sushi bar in the front at night. NO reservations here, so if you are a big group, someone can go at 4:30pm to put your name down for a table, or if you're a small group go whenever and expect you may have to wait some.
Located at the Hanalei Bay Resort in Princeville. This is our favorite place to get pizza to go.
Yummy coffee, smoothies and more.
Cutest coffee shop way out in Wainiha. Stop here before heading out to tunnels or Hanakapi'ai.
There is an awesome poolside lunch spot here. Valet your car and walk to the beachside/poolside area. Have some lunch, drinks and hang out by the pool. Our favorite menu items are the smash burger and spicy mezcal margarita.
